Meet the Meat

Ingredients in Hard Salami:

Hard Salami was born on a road trip to Chicago in 2001. Someone had brought some hard salami to snack on. When I heard hard salami, I commented, "That would be a great name for a band." Five years later, with enough prodding, we rustled up some instruments and a thimble full of talent and started the band. The initial concept was a three piece band, with our lead vocalist also being our drummer. However, we realized we needed Scott out front to be the eye candy. Consequently, we mentioned the band to some coworkers and one said he played the drums. After finding out he already had a drum kit, we thought he would be a perfect addition to the band. And that's how it all began...

Scott - lead vocals, eye candy - Scott is a classically trained vocalist. After studying at the University of Chicago's School of Music, and receiving his masters in Vocal Performance and Choral Conducting1, Scott went on to conducting an all-mute choir. A radical move that was bashed by critics and ultimately  tarnished Scott's reputation. Downtrodden and desperate, he agreed to front Hard Salami. With a large stage presence and waistline to match, Scott's energy and enthusiasm are infectious.  As the eye candy for the band, Scott has attracted a group of female groupies affectionately known as the "Salami Sisters".  You will see them upfront and setting the pace at every show. scott@hard-salami.com

Kentvocals, rhythm guitar - Like Scott, Kent is an accomplished musician. A Juilliard graduate with a BM - Bachelor's in Music (not bowel movement) with an emphasis in Classical and Jazz guitar.  In 1988 Kent was introducted to Steve Clark fom Def Leppard and  toured as a rhythm guitar player on their Hysteria tour in place of Pete Willis.1  After an unfortunate incident with an alligator at an afterparty in Mississippi, Kent decided to leave the tour.  After 15 years in hiatus, Kent is back doing what he loves...eating and drinking.  Oh, and he plays the guitar again too.  kent@hard-salami.com

TodBass Guitar, Background vocals, sound engineer - Tod is an accomplished guitarist, bass player and drummer. Formal training was from the Oxford School of Music in England. Recipient of The Rolf Schock prize for his accomplishments in composition and music theory.1  As the bass player for Hard Salami, Tod brings a high level of fun and charisma to the band. He also plays barefoot as he has six toes on his left foot making shoes uncomfortable. In addition to his role as the bass player, Tod is also the sound engineer for Hard Salami. His “McGyver” like qualities make him an invaluable addition to the group. He once soldered an instrument cable together with nothing more than a paperclip, a label from a beer bottle, and a booger. (We're not joking here, he really did this). tod@hard-salami.com

Nickdrummer1 Nick plays the drums. He doesn’t talk (technically he is not allowed to talk) so we don’t really know much about him. Scott has a pair of shoes older than Nick, and they smell better too.  nick@hard-salami.com

And a special thanks to Anne Gerrietts who has been acting as our "Bandmother" and keeping us organized.

1 In case you haven't figured it out, these credentials are completely made up.  And in reality, Nick has the most experience and talent in the band.  That's why we don't let him talk.
